Vice President

The Board will support the work of Team Hoyt Denver and provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance. While day-to-day operations are led by Team Hoyt Denver’s President and Operational Leadership, the Board-President relationship is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected. Board members may also fill one Operational Leadership role if desired. Specific Board Member responsibilities include:

What the role does.

Leadership, Governance and Oversight

  • Play an active role in developing and implementing Team Hoyt Denver’s strategic plans, including mission, vision and strategic goals
  • Play an active role in developing and implementing Team Hoyt Denver’s operational plans, including defining roles and recruiting for Operational Leadership
  • Assist in developing outcomes and metrics for Team Hoyt Denver to evaluate its impact, regularly measuring its performance and effectiveness using those metrics
  • Review agenda and supporting materials prior to board meetings
  • Approve annual budget and material business decisions; being informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities
  • Assisting the President in identifying and recruiting other Board Members and Operational Leadership
  • Take on special assignments as needed
  • Represent Team Hoyt Denver to stakeholders; acting as an ambassador for the organization

Additional Duties as Vice President

  • The Vice President partners closely with the President to advance the organization’s mission, strategic priorities and annual goals.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Partner with the President to ensure board priorities are executed, Operational Leadership is supported, volunteers are engaged and the organization continues to grow
  • Serve as acting President during the President’s absence or when delegated
  • Assist in leading effective and productive Board Meetings
  • Support Board Member and Operational Leadership recruitment
  • Provide quarterly updates at a Board Meeting on progress towards Team Hoyt Denver’s annual outcome and performance metrics
  • Represent Team Hoyt Denver at community events, fundraising activities, sponsor meetings and other public engagements as requested
  • Be prepared to assume the office of President if a vacancy occurs, ensuring continuity of leadership
